A ZOOM IN ANALYSIS OF TWIN FROZR 7

The 7th generation of the famous MSI TWIN FROZR Thermal Design was introduced with the launch of the GeForce RTX 2070 GPU over a year ago. However, you may or may not know about the iconic TWIN FROZR 7. Don’t worry, this article will help you learn more and give you the ultimate gaming experience!

PATENTED TORX FAN 3.0

Continuing the TORX FAN 2.0, the TORX FAN 3.0 also features two types of fan blades, the dispersion fan blade and traditional fan blade.
TORX FAN 3.0
The Dispersion Fan Blade has a special curved blade which accelerates the airflow and increases its effectiveness, while the Traditional Fan Blade pushes down a steady airflow to the massive heatsink below.

The TORX FAN 3.0 has new trims that are clearly visible on the traditional fan blade, creating a focused airflow which in turn is pushed down by the dispersion fan blades for increased 15% static pressure.

MASTERY OF AERODYNAMICS

To help you Play Hard and Stay Silent, we use the groundbreaking aerodynamic techniques that have the heatsink optimized for efficient heat dissipation. The unique wavy fins - wave-curved 2 fins allow the airflow to pass more smoothly, resulting in less noise.
In addition, Airflow Control Technology guides the airflow directly onto the heat pipes, while simultaneously creating more surface area for the air to absorb more heat before leaving the heatsink.

CONCENTRATED HEATPIPES

Did you know that the shape of heat pipes is related to the efficiency of heat dissipation? Let’s see how the MSI concentrated heatpipes transfer and spread the heat quickly and more efficiently than traditional oval heatpipes.

MSI concentrated heatpipes with the squared shape design are pressed closer to the center of the GPU and the area of the fins are increased by 10%, which helps dissipate the heat more effectively.

In addition, the width of MSI concentrated heatpipes are more narrow, so they cover more areas of each heat pipe and the GPU baseplate. Thus, heat transfer is quicker than traditional oval heatpipes and helps to decrease the GPU temperature.

COPPER BASEPLATE & THERMAL PADDING

How do we temper the heat generated by a powerful GPU? A solid nickel-plated copper baseplate plays a key role in GPU heat dissipation. MSI graphics cards use the baseplate which can catch the heat from the GPU and transfer it to the heat pipes for dissipation to keep the card cool.

Meanwhile, the thermal pads are used to transfer heat from various components to the heatsink for better cooling.

ZERO FROZR: STAY UNDETECTED

First introduced in 2008 by MSI, ZERO FROZR technology stops the fans completely when temperatures are relatively low, eliminating all fan noise when no cooling is needed. When the heat is on during gaming, the fans will automatically start spinning again to keep your powerhouse cool.
